Hi everyone!
We created this page to share our stories, our recipes, and our lifestyle as a family-owned business in Richmond Hill (and soon at St. Lawrence Market!).
I, Marie, am writing this first post, but the goal is for all of our team members to contribute. We hope to share stories, recipes, and behind-the-scenes moments from the market.
We are all new to this blogging adventure, so any tips and feedback are always welcome! :)
Our Story
As a small introduction, Marché Marie — previously La Bréhandaise Market — has been around since 2008.
My father started the business only seven months after our family arrived in Canada. Looking back now, it is amazing to see how much has happened since those early days.
He began by making crêpes at farmers’ markets, slowly building our business step by step. Over time, more and more family members joined the adventure, each bringing their energy and passion for food.
Now, after many long days and nights of work, we are proud to open a store early April at the iconic St. Lawrence Market.
It has been quite the journey..
Why a French Market?
In France, local markets are part of daily life. People stop by to pick up fresh bread, a homemade soup, a patisserie , or a healthy, ready-to-eat meal.
At Marché Marie, we want to bring that same feeling of a traditional French market right into your kitchen.
When you visit us, you will find:
Handmade soups prepared in small batches
Traditional French pastries
Fresh desserts and baked goods
Classic charcuterie like pâté and rillettes
Imported products from France and neighbouring countries
Amazing local products from Canadian producers
Lemon Tartelette French Onion Soup Canelé de Bordeaux
A Family Business
For us, Marché Marie is more than a shop. It is a family story, and food has always been at the center of it.
Through this blog, we hope to share a little more of that story with you — along with recipes, tips, and maybe even some memories from our kitchen.
